Document Summary
Water and life and the chemistry of life. Everything is made up of chemical that is we as living things are bunch of chemicals. There are so many chemical bonds but in this course w focus on three which are as follows: covalent bond - a very strong bond, ionic bond - intermediate in strength, hydrogen bond weakest bond. This is the sharing of electrons between two or more elements and there are different types of covalent bonds as follows; Single covalent bond: it requires sharing a pair of electron. Double covalent bond: requires double bond sharing two pairs of electrons. Electronegativity: this is an atom attraction for shared electron. The more electronegative the more strongly it pulls electron to itself and vice versa. Covalent bonds can be polar and non polar. The polar covalent bond has different electronegativity hence polar and the nonpolar covalent bond have the same negativity.
