Media influence how they perceive trials and criminal court. Trials think that everyone goes to trial when they get charged, about 10% go to trial. Use of pleas plead guilty, the rest of the 90% Function of court dependent on the model of justice (crime control or due process), Objective measures major or minor courts (provincial), seriousness of the possible outcome. Types: lower courts provincial/territorial, criminal cases and provincial statues, by-laws, higher courts superior, criminal cases, appeals, federal and military courts, indictable criminal cases, provincial appeals and final authority for their jurisdiction. Judge only has 1 that presides over the entire territory. Court type (on court) considered on circuit, it travels to the person. Interpreters hired in the community in which the court is taking place. National defence act rules, regulations, the process, what they can see. Canadian forces have access to/use them. Civilians that accompany armed forces, must be involved to use the court.
