Population rate 197 officers for every 100,000 canadians. 2013 25% of police were female which is higher than 2006 when only 5% Main criticism was that physical qualifications were created with male capabilities in mind so it was difficult for women to pass the test. In 1990 the physical test was changed to fit women"s capability. Minority populations are skeptical about being apart of the police. Resistance to police from minorities who had previous negative relationships with police, making them less likely to want to join police force. Women are skeptical about how much the force wants them and face comments they are not capable. Women are shown to perform as well as men and have better public relations and a higher job satisfaction, said its not as much about physical strength but technique. Proactive: discover crime on their own through their job, being in the community, patrolling and come across crime and stop it.
