Document Summary
Criminology looks at sociological more than biological. All workers came from u of chicago. Human ecology model: inspired by biological sciences of plants and environments. They looked at the ways things grow naturally and applied it to what humans do. Some species in the natural environment can become incompatible with each other. This shows that changes in one part of a system can apply to/affect other parts of the system. Looks at city/urban area, expansion in chicago. Concentric zones: characterize different people living in chicago. Where government building, banks, hotels, theatres, transportation centres, city hall, etc usually is. Zone 2= transitional/transitory zone, the inner city . Always in transition, so owners expect to be bought out by big businesses and don"t fix buildings up. Rent is cheap, therefore lots of poor people here. Those who migrated from zone 2 come here if they can afford it. Zone 4= more expensive single family dwellings.
