Produced and packages in vesicles in the cell body, reach axon ends through axonal transport. Some re neutotransmitters, others are neuromodulators--- affect the way other neurotransmitters work. Opioids: endogenous ligands produces in our body by nervous system as neurostransmitters\opiate drugs: exogenous ligands opiate, not opioid eg opium, morphine, heroin.
