Case study: observing and gathering information to compile an in-depth study of one individual: ex. First case study was phineas gage, dynamite through a small hole, metal rod when through his brain. Naturalistic observation: recording behaviour in the environment without control or manipulation. Survey: a method of gathering information about many people"s thoughts or behaviours through self-report. Purpose: to observe the association between two variables (the extent to which they co-occur) E. g. , depression is associated with low self-esteem.
