Document Summary

Part 1 exploring map projections: the default map (geographic coordinate system, display units are decimal degrees. The areas of the grid squares get more elongated towards the poles near the equator: all of the circles are becoming distorted more on the outer edges of poles. Good for examining direction of planes as they can show angular properties. Map 1 paragraph: (world density of senior citizens) For this map i chose the projection eckert iv. This is a strong choice to showcase the density because it is an equal area. It is a pseudo cylindrical projection with a straight line for a central meridian. The eckert iv is extremely useful when you want to preserve area. It was also an appropriate choice for the density of senior citizens because it shows equal area of all the countries across the world. Easily giving you the ability to see population densities. For map 2 i chose the projection robinson projection.
