Alu is responsible for performing arithmetic calculations and makes logic and comparison decisions such as comparing items to determine of one is greater than, less than, equal to etc. Random access memory is temporary storage space. Is short-term memory it remembers everything that the computer needs to process the data into information, such as inputted data and software instructions, but only while the computer is on. Systems include non volatile storage for when the computer is off. Ram is volatile storage, when the computer is off the data stored in ram is cleared out.
