Explains why we act the way we do. Critical thinking: using careful observation to arrive at conclusions about our social world rather than base our understanding upon authority, casual observation, illogical reasoning etc. Emerged at the time of the industrial revolution. It"s all about personal choice, we ignore social issues. He would argue that we must look past private troubles and look at the social issues, by doing so we are using our sociological imagination. Junk food is less expensive than nutritional food. Males vs females who is more likely to commit suicide. Compared catholic countries (more group settings) to protestant countries (more individualistic) Single people have a higher rate of suicide than widow. "it is better to have loved than to have not loved at all"
