Humans are highly subjective and variables and we look at social issues differently based on different experiences. Sociological promises to help us think critically. Promises to explain why we act the way we do, (why do we differentiate between races?) It shows us the correct route to induce the positive social change. Brentt argues that in sociology we can identify the correct route to make social life better. Critical thinking is an essential aspect of sociological thinking. Critical thinking means using careful observation to arrive at conlusions about our social world rather than base our understanding upon authority, casual observation, illogical reasoning etc.
