REN R462 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Fee Simple, Arcmap
Document Summary
Fee simple- purchase land, get land donated, can do a little bit of both, can provide tax receipt. Conservation easement- adds list of restrictions to lands, can"t subdivide, cut down trees, restrictions are forever, even if you sell it. Stewardship endowment (20%)- raise it every time they get new land, raise 20% of value of the property to make sure that they have money in perpetuity to take care of land even if they stop getting donations. Community involvement- largest landowner in crowsnest pass, pay property taxes, don"t close off land from the community, can"t work in isolation. Work with ab fish and game, land conservation, watersheds etc. Setting priorities- can"t take all the land offered, have to choose an area and focus the effort on the areas that need it the most, focus on areas where the people are, most at risk, most used. Really unique orchids in marl ponds, stopped highway that would have been put through.
