Innovation average criminal; still want nice things but will not go to university to get it, chooses illegitimate means. Retreatism severe drug addict; reject societal goals of having a job because you can"t hold down a job and it doesn"t even matter if you have a goal because you reject the means. Rebellion develops alternative goals and alternative means; cult behaviour, people who move off the grid. Argues we can see the formation of gangs starting in grade 1.
