To say that a society is stratified it is divided into hierarchical categories. In most types of so(cid:272)ieties, you(cid:859)ll fi(cid:374)d the hie(cid:396)a(cid:396)(cid:272)hy (cid:449)ith the (cid:449)ealthy at the top a(cid:374)d the poor at the bottom: each society have different criteria in which the hierarchy is based on. We have no control over this- our race, our gender, etc: achieved status- a social position which is earned on the basis of how well an individual preforms a certain role. We have control over this- class for example.
