Post-attentive the processing that is done after something is attended (ex. deciding what to do with a stimulus) When does selection occur: based on when selection occurred models of selective attention were categorized as early, somewhere in the middle and late. Early selection selection could only be based on physical attributes of the stimulus. Late selection selection could occur based on meaning (is the stimulus threatening)
