The end products of fermentation can be used as a basis to help identify the organism involved. This is one way of using basic biochemical techniques to identify organisms. Durum tubes are used to observe fermentation reactions, if gas is produced it is seen here, as well as color changes. Biochemical tests: slide 15 from enzymes and energy power point. It is very difficult to avoid contamination, almost impossible. When someone coughs on you, you have microorganisms hitting you. We have been infected without showing symptoms because it is being wiped away so fast. If the infected dose is too high and your immune system can not fight it off you will show symptoms of being sick. Immune system can only handle a certain amount of bacteria at a time. Buy a fresh chicken, put it in the car until you get home. This allows bacteria to grow because of the higher temperature (more so in the summer).
