Socialization is the life-long social experience by which people develop their human potential and learn culture. Primary socialization: occurs during childhood, personality development. Secondary socialization: occurs later in life, adulthood, how to interact with coworkers. Socialization process begins the moment you are born into this world. An individual"s relatively stable pattern of acting, thinking and feeling. Stable but not static, the way you are thinking changes your behaviour. John b. watson: claims that about any behaviour can be taught and learned. Determinism refers to the degree to which a person"s behaviour, attitudes, and other personal characteristics are determined or caused by a specific factor. Nature vs. nurture (20th century: the discussion on whether biology or social surround has a more significant impact on the development of our personalities. Biological determinism: what we are is determined by roughly 26,000 genes (e. g. if we are good at sports or math is because we are genetically predisposed to be so)
