Document Summary

Media psychology phone use looking at phone overuse and what that might mean for behaviour and cognition. We know they"re a great tool for learning, especially for kids with autism or other deficits. But as we talk about kids more, we see there are limitations in terms of overuse. To set a context we should look at where we"re up to as a population. Look at how many people and how much are using it. Average adult spends about 24 hours texting per week. The issue raised from this is the effects it has on children. quarter of 9-10 year olds have their own phone, and increasing. Is there a downside to that? they"re just looking at a screen, for a long time. We"re at the point now where only 40 percent of us are making phone calls. people don"t make phone calls if they don"t have to. they would rather do texts, seems to be more comfortable.
