Case studies: in depth analysis of an individual, social unit or event. Case studies have diiculty drawing causal conclusions, since there is lack of control. Observaional research over case study: studying more than one person. Allows researcher to examine relaionship among variables that may not be present in laboratory. Naturalisic observaion: passive observer, limited amount of interacion with paricipants. Paricipant observaion: undisguised in which the paricipants are aware they are being observed. Use unobtrusive measures, habituaion, desensiizaion, indirect measures, archival records, Controlling expectancy: telling observers what to expect, so use automaion, objecive instruments, Structured observaion: analogue behavioural observaion, afords more eiciency and control. Sample: a subset of cases or observaions from the populaion.
