A way of looking at human behaviour: lenses, depends on, perspective, experiences, culture. Definition: is the study of behaviour and the mind. Definition is problematic because we tend to infer. B= f (p, e) (behaviour = function (person, environment: kurt lewin. P= person(ality: how the person functions, introverted/extroverted. Both personality and environment are heavily influenced by background experience. Maturation to development: maturation = biologically time of the physical changes to the human body, development = interaction of the maturing body with the environment. Huge changes based on culture and time period. 7 themes in psychology: psychology is empirical, answers questions of interest, psychological capacities evolve (in a sociohistorical context, behaviour is determined by a multiple cause, our behaviour is shaped by our cultural heritage. January 4th, 2018: cultural expectations, heredity and environmental jointly influence behaviour, nature vs. nurture, our experience of the world is highly subjective, psychology is theoretically diverse, not adverse to combining the theories.
