Policy analysis (predicting the outcome of different policies) Operationalization specifying the steps and procedures for measuring the variables we want to observe. Observation implementing the things you designed. Conceptualization (think of constructs and variables and how you are going to define those things) Choice of method (choose how you want to answer your research question. ) Operationalization (operationalize your variables by defining exactly how you will measure your variables and how you will ask) Population and sampling (decide on the population you are interested in and choose a sample from it) Observation (collect the data from study participants. Data analysis (process the data and analyze it) Research is theoretical (theories of how the world operations) and empirical (based on observations and measurements of the world around us) Theory: systematic explanation for observed facts (not testable)
