Social science is value free: has to do with what is and why, not what should be. What should be depends on policy/decision makers: subjecivity vs. objecivity. Subjecive efected by our opinion, values, expressive. In social science, you need to remain objecive. Social research is probabilisic: atempts to ind paterns and regulaions. There are always excepions: inferences are based on probabiliies. A general patern doesn"t have to be shown every ime. We give probabiliies based on the situaions. Describing scope of an issue or problem. Why is it like this: applied research (used to implement changes in real world) Someimes is it used to predict what would happen when each are implemented. Operaionalizing variables we actually want to measure: observaion. Literature review = reading about previous researches: conceptualizaion. Think about construct and variables and how to deine variables: choice of method. True experiment randomly assign people to diferent thing and measure. Focus groups asking small groups: operaionalizaion.
