Document Summary

The term paper is the major component of the course (25%) and as such it is expected that students should have begun thinking about potential topics. It is important to begin research now in order to avoid simply writing a descriptive paper. Remember, a proper academic paper should not simply be descriptive; it should also posit an argument, the application of a theory or a re-thinking of conventional interpretation (in other words, a thesis). There will be no extensions granted, except for exceptional circumstances. Late papers will be penalized 5% per day late. Paper length: 7 pages, double-spaced (bibliography not included). Sources: you are expected to draw upon at least 5 academic sources. You are free to use whichever reference style you are most comfortable with (mla, apa) as long as you maintain style consistency throughout your term paper. Can be a page page and a half.
