Document Summary

Sociological analysis of family violence: definitions of measurements. Historically up until recently, legally the way that family is understood it is narrowly defined and. In the victorian era it starts to be narrowed down to the nuclear family: the primacy of the nuclear family started to be defined: two opposite sex parents with a marital contract and their biological offspring. It did not change that the family was tied through blood and legality though. The statistics on family violence are all wrong, they only represent a small amount of family violence that actually exists: physical abuse. The only family violence that shows up in statistics is a tiny amount of physical violence. It is rare to report because the police re-victimize you in the reporting: sexual. Only recognized if you are a child under the age of 10. Over 10 you are not considered innocent.
