Not looking at emotional, verbal, psychological, financial violence within family: mainstream sociological, social learning: the reason why you abuse is b/c you grew up looking at your father abusing mother or you were abused. Its not you as an individual that problematic, its is your family, society is perfect, not looking at broader social violence, family is a microcosm of society, not looking at patriarchal power relations. Just cause you grew up with violence does not mean you will be a violent person: male peer support: walter dekeseraty , phd at york, first job at carlton. Based on the theorist"s experience (for all theories) Police, government love theory b/c of easy and simplistic theory that doesn"t work, part of our justice system. Theory based on 4 principles, theory based on stats, interview guys who have been charged- looking for common themes b/w them, only looking at physical violence.
