Functionalists view society as a living organism: composed of many parts each with part fulfilling a specific. Society is a social system composed of different parts: family, education system, economy, religious institutions. Families produce, nurture, teach, socialize children: function of husbands is to provide economically for the function family, function of the wife is to provide nurture, family teaches children societal norms and values.
