Important to understand because we take for granted these things. Identity between humans and other (monsters, zombies, aliens, etc. : social convention, collapse in systems and social order. One of the systems the fail immediately is the health care system it is drastic to think about this for us and we get to see what this is like. Collapse of travel - in the sense of them leaving the city, in the movie. Example: zombie getting hit by a car, real life: incest: norms and normality, normality is threatened by the monster; is defined as order the conforms to dominant institutions. The monster is a representative of all things that could go wrong in society. Element of believability left up to your own imagination of what is chasing you.
