If compared to panama or cuba, it is better in the perspective of better economy, military capability, medicine, happiness etc . If compared to the u. s. a, it is the opposite. They have better economy, better military, better companies etc : power has 3 dimensions, power is influence, government uses persuasion (to tell us what to do and not to do). Example: government of canada telling people smoking is bad. Persuasion uses rationality such as using scientific studies. Disturbing photographs of diseased lungs, teeth etc on smoke boxes: power is expressed as coercion, coercion refers to the government either threatening or using force. Example: no smoking signs have warnings that you can be fined up to. Fines and imprisonment is a way to ensure you behave the way the government wants you to behave. In old europe, there used to be kings, emperors, prince"s etc these people had absolute power.
