Summarize all of the accounting transactions conducted by the firm. Balance sheet can be generated at any point in time. What is the state of what we own/owe today, tomorrow, at the end of a period (month/year) Snapshot of the organization"s assets as of that date and time. Income statement can be generated for a period. Indicating the profitability of that organization over that period. Look at the performance of that company over a month, quarter, a year. Marketers are more concerned with aspects of the income statement than the balance sheet. However, this does not suggest that balance sheet is less important than income statement, but rather that other areas of the company (finance department) are typically more involved in balance sheet items than the marketing department.
