Management can obtain info at any point in time about how the business is operating. It"s built around thousands of predefined business process that reflect best practices. A firm would use configuration tables provided by the software manufacturer to tailor a particular aspect pf the system to the way it does business. If the enterprise software doesn"t support the way the organization does business, it can be rewritten. However, they"re unusually complex, and extensive customization may degrade system performance, compromising the info and process integration that are the main benefits of the system. Enterprise systems provide value both by increasing operational efficiency and by providing firm-wide info to help managers make better decisions. They help firms respond quickly to customer requests for information or products.
