Cri 420 - the decision to publish part 2. Making an offer to publish: rights the publisher wishes to obtain, royalty advance, how much, advances would be estimated, and 50% of the royalties. Projected sales of the book: royalty schedule, author"s share on the sale of subsidiary rights. Contract: grant, specifies name of the book, what rights are being licenced by the publisher. Good publishers will only licence the copyright; bad ones will ask you to sign it over: new author rights are very general, established authors. Illustrator: graphic designer, writer, royalty advance, main way you compete with other publishers, to get authors, an advance used to just be an advance. Nowadays, they can stagger out the payments: royalty schedule, subsidiary rights, any other rights related to the book, that come from the copyright. Book publishing contract: manuscript and other publishing details, established authors may not have written the entire manuscript yet.
