Exchange theory: micro perspective, how exchanges are made. Lack of value to make exchange: (i. e. i"ll give you cookies for your apple. You don"t have an apple, no cookies for you) Family motel: in exchange for getting an a+ on her paper, she wants to go to the slumber party: understand why people do what they do, suggests people are self-serving.
