Aeneas sets off to found a new troy: hounded by juno parallel to poseidon in the odyssey, settles in crete for a year, driven to italy by signs. Juno arranges to have cupid (eros) make dido fall in love with aeneas. Aeneas and his men are shipwrecked off carthage. Taken in by queen dido and her sister anna. Dido tries to make aeneas her husband and king. Mercury reminds aeneas that he has to go to italy. Dido cruses aeneas and his descendants that they should always be the enemies of. Carthage: structurally parallel to the polyphemus cursing odysseus in the odyssey.
