Principles of social straiicaion: it is a characterisic of society and not individuals, it is universal but variable, it persists over generaions, it is supported by paterns of belief. Slavery: system in which one individual has complete control over another person. Chatel slavery: individual is considered to be property. Debt bondage: debtor is housed and fed by his/her lender. Contract slavery: individual signs a work contract and receives food and shelter through an employer. It is conducted under the fa ade of a legal contract. Caste system: system in which an individual"s posiion is ixed as either power/privilege or disadvantage. Class system: straiicaion based on both birth and individual achievement.
