Public sphere: up unil 1960"s typical women in paid labour was unmarried, they quit job when they got married, raised children. A concentraion of men in some occupaions and women in other, sex segregated. Huge changes, biggest change = women going into men dominated professions. Sex typing: when you think a job is best performed by a certain sex. Non standard work: working short term, seasonal, temporary work. (precarious work, contract, no beneits, employer saving more money. Glass celing- invisible barriers that prevent women from penetraing the highest levels of an organizaion. Women hold 17. 7% of highest ranking jobs prevents women and minoriies. Most women do more than half of the household work when they get home, this is called a doudble shift. Employment equity- they are programs to help insure equal treatment for all groups, helps to create equal opportuniies. Pay equity- helps to ensure that there is equal pay for all.
