Individuals (and their employees) who engage in productive activities that are not taxed or registered by the government. Feminist theorizing centre on the idea of gender. Sex = male or female or biological. Social categorization or former is not automatic: reflects the imposition a set of gendered power relations. Masculinity is associated with autonomy, sovereignty, rationality: located in public life. Femininity is held to be the absence of these qualities, such as dependence and emotion: located in private life. Bretton woods system and the neoliberal era everyday politics. Globalized markets and capital: last 30 years or so. What accounts for the huge economic growth in oecd countries after ww2: embedded liberalism. International institutions and economic corporation: capitalism triumphs over communism, us hegemony and power. Economic stability and political stability are linked. Market forces can produce economic downturns and political instability. Three international institutions and three economic aims. Ilo labour: trading rule, monetary rules, rules of state intervention.
