Thesis statement: states the exact purpose or argument of your paper. Topic sentence: tells exactly what this particular paragraph is about. Evidence: in the form of a concrete example and/or a quotation, this helps you prove your point more effectively. Analysis: always include analysis with your examples or quotations, this is part of that oh-so-important commentary in every paper, do not expect the examples to speak for themselves. Analyze how they reflect the topic sentence and thesis. What makes the evidence relevant: repeat this for each piece of evidence in your essay. Concluding sentence: aids in transition between paragraphs, relate ideas of this paragraph back to your thesis. Restate the thesis in new words: do not repeat.
