Semantics the study of the way our behaviour is influenced by the worlds and other symbols we use to communication. Both show why and where communication can break down and what we can do to communicate more effectively. Figure 1. 1: explains how communication takes place. Sender goes through the following steps: perception. The receiver: perceives the message, decodes it. Interprets it: chooses a response, encodes the response, transmits the response. The message transmitted to the original sender is called feedback. Noise is anything that interferes with communication: can be both physical and psychological. Channel is the physical method by which a message is sent.
