Includes finding and defending resources, predator avoidance, mate choice and reproduction and caring for young. Studying animal behaviour is important to animals as it allows them to exploit the behaviour of others (ex. Assassin bugs pluck spider webs to mimic mates, then kill the spider. Red squirrels flag their tails to confuse snakes who use thermal detection). In early hominid ancestors it was important for survival and fitness benefits (knowing behaviours of animals allowed for efficient hunting).
