Sociological imagination the ability to understand your own private issues of what"s happening and society and how everyone is having a similar issue: wright mills made this term (1959) If one problem in a society is to a singular person than it"s more likely and individual internal problem. If a lot of people have the same problem, it"s a community wide problem (larger problem) People living longer: in 1867 = 42 (avg life expectancy) Legal changes: getting a divorce is easier in a legal standpoint. Declining stigma: less of a taboo. Women"s labour force participation: women have 20713 to leave a unhappy marriage. Higher expectations: greater sexual expectations from like external media (porn) o. Shifting ideas about gender and unequal sharing of housework: house fights on who does what (cooking, cleaning) Inadequate supports for working parents which lead to marital conflict: not enough child care, no sick days for kids (parents can"t bounce because kid is sick)
