Depicted the crime / death of at least one person subjectivew viewed filmed; were interviewed 2 days later by people trained in interview techniques (ex: lapd) Three retrieval conditions: cognitive interview, hypnosis, standard interview. Memories for events that have happened that have huge impacts. You tend to be able to recover a lot of details about these highly publicized events these memories seem special: extremely vivid / clear tend to be very accurate. Why these tend to be remembered a lot: usually very emotional content, and emotion improves memory consolidation (biological reasons, emotion focuses attention, frequently rehearsed, better remembered than other memories. We tend to rely on our confidence in our memories to make judgements. Our own memories of ourselves better remembered than other memories. However, we tend to remember" what we think we know.
