High socioeconomic status (ses) at 2-3 years old, predicts better gene regulation of inflammation responses in adolescent females. Effects not changed by later changes in ses. Low early-life ses predicts proinflammatory phenotype in adolescence. Low childhood ses of parents predicts higher blood pressure of their children in adolescence. Effects not due to current ses, current stress, or health practices. Parents early-life ses predicts physiological functioning in their children. Looked at relationship between targeted social rejection in adolescent females at risk of depression and pro-inflammatory responses. Self reported targeted rejection increased expression of pro-inflammatory genes. Effect more pronounced in females of higher self-reported social status. Abnormality results from maladaptive ways of thinking, interpreting. Treat by changing ways of thinking through practice and reward. Until 1952 the dsm did not exist. No change in categories, diagnostic criteria, descriptive text updated.
