Document Summary

In between the arachnoid mater and pia mater, there is a space called the subarachnoid mater that contains. Csf allow the entire brain on the outside surface to be surrounded by csf: there are extensions from the arachnoid mater called arachnoid villi and it is where the csf is dumped back into the blood supply. These are spaces in the brain called ventricles holds and produces the csf. There are two large cavities (holes) in the brain filled with csf that is bilateral known as the lateral ventricles on either side of the cerebrum this is where majority of the csf is produced. From the 4th ventricle, there are openings in the subarachnoid space (continuous with the outside of the spinal cord as well) and the csf travels on the outside of the brain via the lateral and median aperture.
