Role of maturation of the gametes once they are produced. Fetal development - making sure that you are providing an appropriate home for the fetus - pre-birth nourishme nt. Progesterone and estrogen - made by the ovaries. Production of sperm is taking place in the testes. Contains a divisible marking that divides it into lateral side. Dartos muscle - gives the scrotum the rough skin appearance. Each testes sits in one of those two pouches made by the scrotal septum. Dartos muscle contracts - appears more wrinkly - makes the scrotum smaller. Cremastor muscle contracts - pulls the testes closer to body. Testes are considered as an endocrine gland and exocrine gland. Seminiferous tubule - 800 - long enough for sperm production. Tubulus rectus - rete testis - efferent ductules - epididymis - duct of the epididymis - ductus deferens. At puberty - increase in number of interstitial cells - increase in production of testosterone - production of sperm.
