KINESIOL 1E03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Information Processing Theory, Motor Program, Motor Action F.C.
Document Summary
Information processing theory is one theory that seeks to conceptualize how decision are made and appropriate motor actions are executed. This approach is used to develop models that describe the flow of information in the human that results in a motor action. The black box approach to information processing. Until very recently it has been impossible to look inside the head and cns to see what is going on. The so-called black box approach is used to examine measures of behaviours and make conclusions about (infer) what is going on inside. The differences in the 3 behaviours reflect differences in how the black box responds to the 3 situations. Information flow is captured by hypothesizing processing subsystems that exist within the box (these must be inferred) This approach allows analyses of task components in term sof stimulus identification (sensory/perceptual), response selection (cognitive) and movement programming (actions), processes within the human.
