Name the (2) things that makes up the central nervous system (cns): brain, spinal cord. Name the (2) things take makes up the peripheral nervous system (pns). *known as mixed because it has two components: sensory information from the body to cns (afferents, motor information from cns to the body (efferent) Name the (2) kinds of cells in the cns & pns: Glial cells supporting cells; there are 4x more glial cells than neurons. Name the (5) cell types in the central nervous system. Name the (5) cell types in the peripheral nervous system. Does not have a blood-brain barrier and can fight infection. Explain the difference between can regenerate and pns regeneration. Cns regeneration: regeneration is extremely limited; they do not divide and regrow, neurons are post mitotic and glia inhibits axon growth. Pns regeneration: neurons can sprout collaterals & regenerate, glias produce growth factors, macrophages remove debris.
