Housing and transportation are important to quality of life. Kind of housing that an older person needs and can afford depends on health, marital status, income and ability. Canada"s housing system today has many options for older people, but also many gaps. There are geographic and nancial barriers to access quality housing that meets speci c needs and adequate transportation. More than a quarter of senior households live in below standard housing. Ecological model: the lawton-nahemow model of interaction between the individual and environment that holds that a person"s ability and the demands of the environment in uence that person"s life satisfaction and ability to function.
