Most people who need assistance in later life use a mix of the two. The vast majority of older adults do not require help with daily tasks. Services paid for by the public system or privately, professional care providers (formal health care system) Voluntary organizations, churches, non-for pro t and neighbourhood organizations. Formal support: provided to older adults who require assistance. By professional health and social services staff or by trained volunteer. Homecare = arrangement of social and medical services designed to help people live independently in the community (visiting nurse, housework, personal care, meal delivery) Homecare forms the most rapidly expanding sector of canada"s healthcare system. Most used by: old-old (85+), people living alone, those with chronic conditions, people with cognitive impairment, people who need help with activities of daily living. Ontario"s ministry of health and long term care: ccac"s. In ontario: 14 ccacs, whose boundaries align with the 14 lhins.
