Recently, modern technologies, such as google maps and the internet have been established in some of the major settlements in the far north - the capital of nunavut, Iqaluit, was recently mapped using google street view. Although it wasn"t a car driving around that captured the footage, people had to hike and snowshoe around with google camera strapped to their backs. The physical environment in the far north has limited biodiversity and is therefore described as being fragile . Meaning that its ability to recover form the effects of human activity is quite limited - the crucial environmental challenge confronting the far north is centered on the warming of the land and water associated with global warming.
