Cities are consumers of food and other goods & services; In so doing, cities are functionally connected to other cities and to the surrounding non-urban (rural) areas. Many of the connections between cities are related to the absolute and relative locations of the cities . Site: the physical (absolute location) i. e. proximate to other urban centres, isolated, etc. Each city contributes to the urban system by providing goods & services, Interconnected functions of cities (i. e. producers, consumers, and distributers of goods and services) Cities do not function independently: they are interconnected with other cities in a system.
