Why do the authors divide adolescence into 2 stages: only early and late adolescent. Piaget"s four stages of cognitive development (we"re focusing on:: formal operational: the adolescent reasons in more abstract and logical ways. Thought is more idealistic: age range: 11-15 years. In regards to textbooks some professors has stopped with that, and instead opted to do course packs: large class sizes (more contract faculty than in previous years) Pruning (gray matter) use it or lose it . Develop intuition we get gut-feeling when we evaluate situations or people. Media heroes and idols relationships, bullying, falling in love more handholding, kissing, petting. Intimacy with friends: want to be popular don"t care about real friends, but cares more of the volume of friends they have (social media addiction, the selfies [wanting to get the most likes]) Sexual identity and orientation: hold hands/kiss/exploring ( puppy love ) looking into same sex on thursday. Keep it fast making things sarcastic, cynical and ironic.
